Bark Magazine Covers Emmylou & Bonaparte's Retreat!

On a sunny late-autumn afternoon, two bark-happy Chihuahuas, Jade and Coco, sprint across the grass and jump on Emmylou Harris. We’re in the spacious back yard of Harris’s Nashville home, which doubles as Bonaparte’s Retreat, a fostering service for unwanted dogs.

“Good girls,” says the legendary country singer, gathering the two dogs close to let them nuzzle and lick her. “Both of them were abandoned. The night we rescued Coco, she gave birth to five puppies.”

A cell phone...for your dog?

Petsmobility has announced that later this year they will be coming out with a new product that will allow you to call your dog on a cell phone attached to it's collar. When you make the call, the phone automatically answers and puts you on speakerphone to talk to your dog, as well as let you hear his or her whereabouts. The phones will also feature GPS capabilties and a button that can be pressed so that if someone finds your dog, they can call instantly to notify the owner.

Some people will probably think this device seems pretty rediculous, but for those of us whose dogs are like our children, this little high-tech device seems like some good peace of mind!

Xyletol: new sweetner in gums and candies. can be life-threatening or make your dog very sick!

Potpourri/Strychnine: dangerous chemical found in certain Potpourri's made in India. This is very serious and life-threatening! Please remove potporri from your house or at least WAY out of your dogs reach.

Dachschund Mama and Baby.....Pig???

I received this forward today and had to share it with you guys! Can you believe it?

This Dachshund mama is fostering this little baby pig named Pink. Pink had his eyes closed but now they are open. He is just a little bigger than the other pups. She loves this little guy as much as her puppies and is nursing him back to health. He is the cleanest pig-uppy ever because she licks him all the time.

Rachel Ray's pit bull "Isaboo", smiling in full glory (and the wagwear collar needs to be noted as fabulous, and most likely a new addition to LP soon)!
