Calling all pet lovers! Nashville Lifestyles introduces our 2009 Cover Dog Search. This event, in conjunction with the Nashville Humane Association, brings out dogs, big and small, to compete for the chance to be featured on the cover of our May issue, People and their Pets. A celebrity panel of judges will help make the decision, while pets and their owners enjoy cool cocktails, entertainment, and special offerings from our sponsors.

If you are a Murfreesboro Magazine reader, you will have the chance to be featured on the August/September issue, People and their Pets.

Entries are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Print out your registration and ticket and bring it to the event.

The Brown Dog Foundation - Top Dog Competition

The Brown Dog Foundation

The Top Dog & Cat Competition is a 10-week fundraising campaign where Candidates are vying for the title of Top Dog and Top Cat.  The Candidates, at the end of 10-weeks with the most "votes" win.  To earn votes, each Candidate will leverage their contacts, both personal and professional, to raise money.  Candidates may use whatever resources they choose - a donation box located in a high-traffic retail location, a letter-writing campaign, email campaign with access to online giving through a personal web-page on the Brown Dog website, host an event, a "Dress Down" project at your workplace or simply write a check.

We ask each Candidate to commit to raising at least $300, but to win, the sky is the limit!  We expect 25 or more candidates from across the state to participate in this event.  The Top Dog and Top Cat will be crowned at the Coronation Pawty on June 13th.  During the pawty, Candidates may enter up to 5 auction items to earn last-minute "votes".  Candidates will also sell Coronation Pawty tickets as a means to raise money. 

Last year's winners were Mr Brady Horton, Top Dog (he raised more than $2300) and Baxter Boy Nelsen, Top Cat (he raised more than $700.  The event expects to raise $25,000 this year and to host at least 200 people at our Coronation Pawty!  Winners will enjoy alot of prizes and publicity.

You will get a CD that includes 10 to 15 color and B&W 4x6 pictures. Family will be included in last few shots with dog if requested. CDs will be available 1 to 2 weeks after shoot at Harmony Designs studio. 100% of every sitting fee benefits the many Agape Animal.

Adoption Day Next Weekend at Lucky Pup!

One of our favorite local rescue groups, Camp Chaos, will be coming out for an adoption day this coming Saturday, January 17th from 1:00 - 3:30.  Local pet photographer Adrian Hitt will also be there to photograph the adoptable pups, and in the next couple of weeks we will be launching a new adoption campaign at Lucky Pup with Adrian's photos. Each dog will have it's gorgeous photo and bio hung in the windows of Lucky Pup, in hopes that someone will walk in to the store and fall in love! The photos will be changed out monthly as dogs get adopted and new dogs are brought into Camp Chaos' foster program, so make sure to stop by regularly to see the new photos! We'll post on the blog when this campaign has officially launched!

Meanwhile, come check the adoptable dogs next weekend and maybe catch some of their photoshoot with Adrian! Below is a pic she took of her dog Benny!

Hello from the Green Mountain State! We have been on hiatus (and still are) on christmas vacation in vermont! Thought I'd share some holiday photos of some of the family dogs enjoying Christmas time.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone that came out yesterday for Photos with Santa! It was great and we helped raise over $400 for The Brown Dog Foundation. We plan to do photos again at Easter with the Easter Bunny, so keep an eye out for that! Here are some shots of Santa's first visitor yesterday. As soon as I have some of the professional photos, I will share some of those as well so you can all see what an awesome job Angela Bertrand did as photographer!

Our holiday party last night was so amazing! Lots of customers came out for 20% off the entire store, food, drinks & the most amazing part...adoptable dogs from Camp Chaos! Each adoptable dog has a stocking hanging in the store so that people can come and buy them a gift for the holiday season! Thanks to everyone who purchased these deserving pups a gift last night! We also received a special visit from "Bean", a rescued Shnauzer that is currently campaigning to become the next presidential pooch.
